Yali's father, Master Zhang, is a traditional silversmith living in a Miao village in Qiandongnan, Guizhou. Recently, he has been worried because his silverware business has not been doing well. Just at this time, Yali was about to graduate and came home to visit. During her stay at home, Yali noticed that her hometown had undergone tremendous changes. At the dinner table, Yali told her father that she was going to work in another place far away from home. Her father was not in favor of her going so far away to live, and thus some unpleasantness arose between them. Witnessing the great changes in her hometown and the conflict with her father during this short homecoming trip, Yali's state of mind gradually began to change.
