Adjusting to a new home is a scary, uncertain experience. These short films explore the joys and pains of the immigrant experience, underlining the inclusive power of community.
This program will also screen in person at NWFF on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 1:30pm! VIRTUAL, IN-PERSON, and HYBRID (virtual AND in-person) Festival Passes are available.
When Jasmin’s parents decide to move their family back to her dad’s home country, Somaliland, she is faced with the biggest change of her life. She has to say goodbye to the familiar playgrounds in the Finnish suburbs, and to her best friend. When she arrives in Somaliland, she’s struck with culture shock: the streets are not paved, and camels roam around freely. But Jasmin starts to appreciate that nobody stares at her like they do in Finland. Maybe having two homes isn’t so bad after all?
