Luna Ermosa, the eponymous beauty queen, is the most sought-after woman in Jerusalem. But she is unlucky in love. As are the Ermoza men, who are doomed to marry women they do not love and never forget the ones they do. But this is Jerusalem during the Ottoman Empire, the British Mandate and Israel's War of Independence, when marriage between the Sephardic Ermozas, immigrants from Spain, to Ashkenazim is unacceptable, and children are expected to marry whomever their parents choose for them. Filled with potent curses, outlandish customs, eccentric characters, and forbidden loves, the series is based on the book by Sarit Yishai-Levi and features an all-star cast. Its co-writer and showrunner is Shlomo Moshiah, a former guest of the Festival and co-creator of Kvodo (the original Israeli series Your Honor).
