In a series all about passion, despair and hope that hooks viewers because they don’t know what will happen next, a troubled young Haredi woman, Faigie, 18, falls in love with a charismatic married man, Nathan, 35, after her failed suicide attempt. Nathan is the son of the leader of their ultra-orthodox community and is about the have his first child with his wife. Renowned creator and director of the show, Rama Burshtein tells Variety, “I want (the audience) to figure things out. What is Nathan doing here? Is he interested in Faigie, is he in love with her? Is he playing with her, or helping her out? For Faigie, being provoked is actually…therapeutic.”
