Short films that demonstrate how sports can be used to break down barriers, overcome history and bring people together.


Personal Best is the goal in sight for these characters. In the first short, A shy and skilled artist meets a gifted athlete. Can an unlikely friendship form in the neighborhood boxing club? In another short, Josh Crooks is a young, skilled African Canadian hockey player who learns the buried history of how Black athletes are tied to the legacy of the sport. In the last film, US and Canadian sledge hockey players are competing for the ultimate tournament.

Themes: Dreaming big, career aspirations, personal achievement, good sportsmanship, giving others their due.

THE TOURNAMENT (Short Film)


Synopsis: Over the course of a weekend tournament, youth sledge hockey teams from the U.S. and Canada battle for supremacy. Designed for players who have a physical disability, the excitement of the sport remains the same.
