In one short, Olive relates her journey to better self-care, with the help of her family. In another short, two refugee brothers must sustain each other. In another short, Mariam voices her avoided emotions regarding her mother and the uneasiness she felt about her mixed background.

Synopsis: Josh Crooks is a young, gifted African-Canadian hockey player in an overwhelmingly white sport. In this intimate story of inter-generational identity, "Ice Breakers" reveals the buried history of how Black athletes helped pioneer modern hockey. Crooks discovers that his passion is tied to a remarkable heritage.
