Jose is a 17 and lives with his family. He is a member of the Wayúu indigenous community in the La Guajira desert. A drought has ravaged his community and the crops and livestock have suffered a great deal. Jose is adamant about leaving and pursing an education but is met with resistance by his mother and other members of his community who see it as a betrayal. We travel with Jose as he weighs his options and encounters the different, difficult, and sometimes risky ways people in his community must make ends meet. Jose will have to balance his desire to carry on his cultures and traditions with his dream to get an education at a university. What will he choose?
