Freedom Swimmer

A grandfather recounts his swim to freedom away from mainland China to Hong Kong back in the 1950s, escaping political oppression and starvation. Parallels are drawn between the political refugees of the 1950s-1980s and the refugees of today, fleeing Hong Kong's anti-democracy policies, as arrests and government censorship continue to constrict human rights. The grandfather and his granddaughter preserve his story in order to combat the National Security Law active in Hong Kong today and fight for democracy in China.
