Mitakuye Oyasin: The Peace Exchange in South Dakota

As part of Holy Family Ministries' Peace Exchange Program, five Chicago area Peace Builders traveled to Indigenous communities throughout South Dakota in the summer of 2021. Peace Builders learned from the Lakota people about their cultural traditions of peacemaking and nonviolence. Peace Builders were hosted by Augustana University in Sioux Falls, explored healing traditions with elders in the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe Reservation and engaged in peace circles with I Am Legacy in Rapid City. This documentary highlights their journey and lessons learned in nonviolent peacemaking.
