In 2017, the strongest earthquake in a century hits Mexico and 12-year-old Frida survives under the rubble of an elementary school. Through 24-hour media coverage, the whole country follows every step of her rescue when suddenly the story takes a very strange twist.

Director Laura Tejero combines focus group interviews with real news footage to make the story of FRIDA resonate in the current world of fake news. Multi-talented Whitney Legge (2020 CIFF selection, PIGEON GIRL) acts as the cinematographer and handles the music on this project.
