Money, Money, Money. The root of all evil but also makes the world go round. Struggling for money seems to be a universal theme these days and it really hits home in these films from around the world.

Okem works as a janitor at a university, wiping the grime off bathroom windows day in and day out. It's a job he does to support his ailing mother in Nigeria, who desperately relies on his meagre earnings.

On a seemingly unimportant day, he receives a call that his mother has been kidnapped and is being ransomed for an absurd sum. After exhausting all options, Okem turns to a fellow Nigerian, Professor Nnadi, who is in a much more prestigious position.

OKEM will be screened as a part of the SHORTS: CASH RULES EVERYTHING AROUND ME package.

Director Joshua Okwuosa, Producer Liz Kraushaar, and Cinematographer Kai Dickson will be in attendance at the September 23 screening.
