Join us for the first year of CIFF’s new “Shorts in Focus” program where we celebrate a filmmaker or organization for their work in the field of short films. This year we honor Oscar® winner Ben Proudfoot and his Breakwater Studios as we share a retrospective of their work including the Oscar®- winning, “Queen of Basketball” and their newest short film, “The Best Chef in the World.” Ben and members of his team will also join us for a post-film Q&A to discuss their work and how they’ve managed to turn making impactful and diverse short film documentaries into a sustainable and thriving film studio.

A world-renowned pastry chef reflects on his relationship with his deceased father, famed Kansas City jazz musician Milton Abel Sr.
