La Rivière is a 30-minute documentary on the Rivière-des-mille-Iles, long considered to be one of the most polluted rivers in Quebec. The film presents the river through the eyes of three characters: a fisherman, a riverside couple and an environmentalist. Through the seasons, the images and stories reveal a magical river that has been overlooked and under-appreciated for far too long. Director's Biography: A COTB alum and award-winner, Christian fell in love with photography in B.C, learned the trade in Toronto and established himself as a freelancer in Montreal. Today, Christian makes a living by photographing and filming people and places. His documentary style is a mixture of patience, intuition and perspective. His latest movie is award winning and has been presented in festivals across North America. On a more social note, Christian has been fully involved with CAPIC as mentor, council member and even national president. He also is co-founder of l'Archipel, a group of seven artists sharing space, equipment, ideas, projects and wine.

‘Atalaya’ is the Spanish word for watchtower. It’s also the name of the Chilean islands where in 1998 debris was found from the boat belonging to my seafaring father, Gerry Roufs, lost at sea. ATALAYA is a personal essay in which the filmmaker explores the state and the places connected with the death of her Canadian seafaring father, Gerry Roufs, lost at sea in 1997 during the Vendée Globe, a single-handed non-stop round the world yacht race. Director's Biography: Based in Montreal and Berlin, Emma Roufs is a filmmaker who’s particularly interested in themes related to memory while experimenting with both analog and digital technology. Emma is a member and administrator of VISIONS, and co-founder of 'la lumière collective', two entities dedicated to dissemination and promotion of experimental film practices based in Montreal, Canada. After completing her masters in film studies, she worked for film festivals including Festival du nouveau cinéma and Festival international du film de La Rochelle. She now works as well as a translator with T&amp;S Coop, a cooperative dedicated to translating and subtitling films. Her first film “on breathing” (2017) was presented in America and in Europe.

ATALAYA is a personal essay in which the filmmaker explores the state and the places connected with the death of her Canadian seafaring father, Gerry Roufs, lost at sea in 1997 during the Vendée Globe, a single-handed non-stop round the world yacht race.

Whether thy fell in love at first sight or whether they have been immersed in this universe since they were a kid, here they share with us the feelings of happiness and freedom that accompanies them when they go for a ride. Director's Biography: Multidisciplinary artist, Geneviève Chartrand holds a Masters and a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Laval University. Her works have been presented in Quebec and abroad. Chartrand works in the film industry as a director, screenwriter and artistic director. We should mention in this regard several short films including: Nym (Léon, Mexico, 2016), Entonces (Quebec, 2017), and Freetown Love, (Louisiana 2018).

Director's Biography: Born in Quebec, Canada, Rafaël is a French-Canadian director and screenwriter. His first short film, "La Crise", wins many international and local prizes and his first documentary, "Beyond the void", is currently in festivals. He is currently writing his first web series, and he also prepares production on his next short film, "Les battues", winner of 2020's SODEC's "Cours écrire ton court".

Director's Biography: Juliette Poitras is a young Montreal director and producer who graduated from the BFA in Film Production at Concordia University in 2019 and she is the recipient of the "Mel Hoppenheim for Outstanding Overall Achievement" award. In 2020, she completed a DESS in management of the arts at HEC Montréal in order to perfect her management skills.With great sensitivity, Juliette is particularly interested in the themes of childhood, identity, love, and family relationships, as well as in the exploration of alternative narrative threads.
