Kelasi est une randonnée historique, socio–politique et culturelle en rapport avec le système éducatif congolais au fil des années. Un système émaillé par la volonté politique, par le MPR parti état, d’une manipulation de la masse. Tourné avec plusieurs techniques d’animation, le film raconte en travelling une journée d’école au Congo / Zaïre. Un travail mémoriel et culturel qui laisse une porte ouverte à l’avenir pour l’éducation au Congo.

à propos du réalisateur

Né à Kinshasa, Fransix Tenda Lomba est un artiste visuel. Diplômé à l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Kinshasa en art plastique, il travaille avec le KinartStudio depuis sa fondation. Son travail est pluridisciplinaire et varié : De la peinture, à la sculpture, du dessin, à la vidéo d’animation. Il a participé à des résidences et des expositions en Afrique, en Europe et aux Etats-Unis.

The first animated film by visual artist Fransix Tenda Lomba is a kind of parcours through Congo’s historical education systems – and an analysis of the ideological function of the institution of the school. Using impressive collages and an always ironic commentary, the film – tellingly produced in Belgium – confronts its Western audience with their own ignorance about the region, challenging both their aesthetic and political thinking.

About the director

Fransix Tenda Lomba is a visual artist born in Kinshasa. Graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts of Kinshasa in Visual Arts, he collaborated with the KinartStudio since its foundation. His work is multidisciplinary and varied: from painting, to sculpture, through drawing and video animation, created and shown in several residencies and exhibitions in Africa, Europe and the United States.
