Everyday, people in Saskatchewan rely on public healthcare, libraries, schools, public transit, and Crown corporations to access the services they need to survive. Meeting Human Needs examines schemes used by conservative governments to privatize public services and the consequences suffered by communities. In exposing these schemes, the video makes the case for a collective future that protects and expands public services for all.

After spending 25 years as a domestic worker, Edilsa faces the reality of unemployment. She has been loyal to a family, and trusted the family would be loyal to her. This film raises difficult and important themes for all workers. Themes of ageing, health care, pensions, living wages, technology, the changing nature of work, the important role of unions, and workers rights.

The pandemic unearthed and exacerbated the endemic fault lines in our system. No paid sick days. Migrant worker deaths. Profit over the elderly in nursing homes. An unequal burden of disease on Black communities. A lack of power for workers to speak out. In this documentary, the audience is exposed to point of view stories from workers on the front lines of the hardest hit sectors. Far beyond COVID, Fault Lines will have us questioning what our labour is worth. And what still needs to be fought for.
