Lessons from Jeju
Seven months pregnant and apprehensive of the effect motherhood would have on her career as a professional freediver, Kimi Werner took a trip to the island of Jeju in South Korea to meet her heroes, the haenyeo – a group of freediving and fishing women often regarded as Korea’s first working mother’s whose culture dates back centuries.
Drawn from Here
Drawn From Here is a film by Eric Pollard that opens with an exploration of his processes as a skier, as a ski/product designer, and as an artist. It follows the influences he draws from—like basing the shape of a ski tip off of a surfboard or finding patterns observed in nature to integrate into the graphics he hand draws for a ski—and illuminates a thread that runs through and binds all his different disciplines and hobbies.
Concrete Solitude
As Covid-19 clears the streets of San Francisco, we find solitude amongst the concrete jungle. This film documents the emptiness throughout San Francisco during Covid-19, using skateboarding as the catalyst. Skaters: Ellisa Steamer, Sam Buchanan, Kyle Buthman
Building Bridges
High above the sacred Navajo land of Monument Valley, two hot air balloons float, circling each other as if in a dance. One carries the German flag, the other that of the United States. A closer look reveals that the balloons are not only tethered together, but that a person is walking on this thin, connecting line. This is the sight that the protagonist of the short film #buildingbridges beholds, as he steps out of his humble Utah home and looks up at the sky.
Mothered by Mountains
A man’s place is on the mountain, a woman’s place is in the home—that’s the message Pasang Lhamu had always heard but was never willing to accept. Her go-against-the-grain nature made her Nepal’s first mountaineering instructor and National Geographic’s Adventurer of the Year. What was supposed to be a film about women empowerment becomes something so much more as Pasang and Sareena, a punk rocker and unlikely climbing companion, attempt a first ascent together.
Daughter of The Sea
Daughter of the Sea is a short film exploring a fisherman's relationship with his daughter and the sea. Shot in the French town St Jean de Luz.
On Falling
In this short documentary, three women reflect on their willingness to sustain broken bones, concussions, and organ damage as professional mountain bikers. On Falling is a dreamy, unorthodox glimpse into the inner landscapes of those immersed in a subculture where falling is normal. Blending white-knuckle riding, crashes, and quiet self-examination, the film unfolds as a sensory meditation on the rush of control that comes with completely letting go.
The Lucky Ones
Ben Moon is a climber, photographer and filmmaker. He is also a cancer survivor. This short film is a portal into his inspiring story which he has chronicled in his new book titled "Denali: A Man, a Dog, and the Friendship of a Lifetime. http://bit.ly/denalibook I've been friends with Ben for over 15 years. It was an honor for me to tell his story in film.
The Important Places
A great story about connections to people and places.
Sand in the Sky
Traveling with a baby is an interesting thing. They add all sorts of challenges to any trip you do. Long flights, strollers, nap schedules, and car seats all seem to pile up and complicate what is supposed to be a relaxing vacation. Sometimes, you may even find yourself wondering...is all this effort worth it for a baby who won't even remember the trip? All these experiences and memories will eventually disappear, like a fading dream. So is it worth it?
UNNUR
Elli Thor is an Icelandic photographer, surfer, and former kayaker. A decade ago Elli nearly drowned under a waterfall while kayaking a challenging Icelandic river. The near death experience became a catalyst for personal growth and his professional career. After walking away from kayaking, a newfound passion for surfing and the birth of his daughter Unnur gave him a new perspective worth living for.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT: Often as a director you make a film about the most important things going on in your life through someone else’s eyes. For me the story of Elli Thor raising his daughter as a single parent is something near and dear to me. Growing up in a single parent home I watched my own mom balance the risks of raising me in a way that would allow me to carve my own path while not passing on an inherent fear of the unknown. This film is for everyone who hopes to raise kids and share with them the places and experiences they cherish most. It is a tribute to the complicated world of parenthood.
