When physical contact has all but disappeared in a mundane yet distant future, two strangers find connection on a telepathic network in an antiquated motel room.

Director - Brenda Emery

Director's Biography: Brenda Emery is a filmmaker based in Frederick, MD. Since 2023, she has been involved with Charm City Filmmakers where she has directed two short films, including "The World Is Yours". As well as writing and directing, she also has an interest in Production Design, particularly in set dressing. Brenda graduated from Saint Joseph's University, Class of '16 with a degree in Theatre & Film.

Director's Statement: "The World Is Yours" is an examination of how technology affects our capacity to connect. Despite the possibilities that advances in communication have brought, it only magnifies the limits of our ability to truly form meaningful bonds, both physical and emotional.

At what point does convenience override connection? Would it be better to opt out of a rapidly evolving world altogether? These were the themes I wished to explore through the character dynamics of Xander (Ian McCleary), Siren (Ashley Sigmon), and Nova (Christine Hardy). At it's core, "The World Is Yours" is a relationship drama but through the lens of science fiction, I sought to create an alternate reality that allows us to see how interlinked we are to the technology around us.
