A New Creation Story by Dane Figueroa Edidi, J Mase III, Audria LB
Since the ancient world, Creation Stories have been told to help us not simply imagine the way the world was formed, but our divine place within it. Blending animation, poetry, music, stories rooted in various cultures and live elements, A New Creation Story celebrates Black Trans community and retells the making of the Universe — taking us on a journey from before the first molecule was crafted until the precise moment where everything has truly come to be.
Chosen by Ace Xavier Portis
"Chosen" is a radical and unapologetic sharing of Black Trans Family Reunion 2025, held in New Orleans, LA in a time where the lives of Black trans people are at stake.
Black Trans Family Reunion is a gathering, retreat, sanctuary for Black trans people, envisioned and brought forth by Black trans people. Its purpose is to bring us together in a time where our very lives are at stake. It will hold space, feed us, ensure our safety, record our stories, and deepen our ever powerful existences.
Cockroach by Justice Singleton
A black transgender man plans to exchange sex for top surgery money with an older gay man until his night hook up turns into a hunt for a cockroach who inspires him to open his heart and conquer his fears.
Dread by Loren Loubser
A Black transmasculine Uber driver’s car becomes dangerously possessed when a German hippie offloads her trauma demon on a ride through the racially segregated, tourist-infested Cape Town.
Echoes: The B Side by Mars Storm Rucker
This film is dissecting the different perspectives of how the unconscious mind finds healing through nostalgia and connection to the inner child. The inspiration of this stemmed from the medicalization of gender dysphoria by the ADA. This bred me to interact with the question of the intimate why’s behind this incongruence between sex and gender, whether gender dysphoria was inherent to transness, and analyze history and how America medicalizes trans people and specifically Black people. I wondered about our Black indigenous understandings of gender pre colonization and western ideals. This experimental documentary-film ultimately examines the technology of Black liberation and healing of trauma through vintage fashion, vintage aesthetics, and the romanization of nostalgia to create afro-futuristic utopias.
Sistahood: A Story of Strength by Kayla Gore
"Sistahood: A Story of Strength" follows the resilience of black, trans women in Memphis, Tennessee, as they find hope found through My Sistah’s House.
