STATE OF EMERGENCY refers to the moment the entire world went through in 2020. The COVID-19 has forced most of the earth's population to stay confined at home, causing a significant impact on our routines. Meanwhile, the cities were empty. We barely saw people on the streets, and the businesses were closed. I've found live web cameras worldwide, and I've reached 75 different cities from all the continents. We see apparent differences in architecture, nature, and cultural aspects of the cities in the images. Although they are visually distinct, they present one common detail: emptiness. I interviewed people from these different cities via Zoom. I paired people's voices with the images that I got from the cities' surveillance cameras. This film is a short version of extensive documentation of how the world deals with the pandemic through ordinary and anonymous people.
