<p>I don’t know where my family’s from. I couldn’t locate myself in China. Paria’s Pearl is my search for the body’s of water routes; from the Pearl River, merging with the Atlantic, spilling through the Dragon's Mouth into the Gulf of Paria. These water bodies hold memories that flood the streets of Port-of-Spain. Perhaps that’s why the Dragon couldn’t dance or look at its reflection. I saw my reflection on the cloudy waters' surface. In clear water, my shadow cast onto the seabed which nested pearls, promises of wealth. The dragon plunged and resurfaced with a shop on Charlotte Street.</p>
