Waning investigates the questions of memory and death through the use of multiple layers of canted angles in one stationary shot. Layer upon layer builds up as Haraszti delivers the source, and the horror of the opening shot. "We shot waning with a Bolex camera, and it was extremely hard to keep the frame perfectly still throughout the two days of shooting, as we had to unload and load the film stock while the camera was on the tripod. You can actually see it in the film, how sometimes the image shifts up or down. We decided to embrace these glitches in post-production instead of correcting them." - Gina Hara

Utilizing archival footage and stop-motion animation, Black Dog is set during the US and USSR space race of the 1960s amidst a time of heated social and political tension. Two brothers must deal with the sudden loss of their parents. As one falls into the darkness of a troubled marriage, the other must find an escape from the evil that is devouring his family. "My favorite memory was just being able to be apart of a stellar community of experimental filmmakers and transgressive artists. Walking around late at night in Chicago with other filmmakers and enjoying the laughs as the entire festival community shared the wonderful repurposed Barbie Doll trophies. Anonymous Notes, a jump rope, tin foil, a baseball bat, and a drill are just some of the dangerous objects waiting to be discovered in Red Luck, a surreal psychosexual thriller focusing on a group of individuals and the violence that transpires when their paths cross. A sense of dread pervades the entirety of the nearly wordless Red Luck: from the abstract close-ups at the beginning that gradually come into narrative focus, to the tainted objects that pass through the story, to the dead animals that litter a seemingly peaceful neighborhood, to the ominous and repeating lyrics from a forgotten 1960s folk song, which reminds us that “some things are not meant to be heard.” "I wasn't able to attend to stay for the award ceremony the year that Red Luck won the award, and I can't believe I wasn't there in person to accept a one-of-a-kind Kenneth Anger doll! I keep it next to my computer for inspiration when I'm editing. My other favorite memory is from around 2012, during an after party where Lori Felker and I went into the bathroom and changed into each others clothes." - Mike Olenick
