Waning investigates the questions of memory and death through the use of multiple layers of canted angles in one stationary shot. Layer upon layer builds up as Haraszti delivers the source, and the horror of the opening shot.
"We shot waning with a Bolex camera, and it was extremely hard to keep the frame perfectly still throughout the two days of shooting, as we had to unload and load the film stock while the camera was on the tripod. You can actually see it in the film, how sometimes the image shifts up or down. We decided to embrace these glitches in post-production instead of correcting them." - Gina Hara
