My name is Eoin Monaghan, I graduated this year from Animation BDes (Hons) at Ulster University, Belfast. I’m an aspiring 3D Generalist looking to contribute to Animation/Game industry projects. My project is about a child soldier and I’ve worked in association with WarChild to raise money for the cause. I wanted simultaneously to finish my final year project, get my degree and contribute to an important cause as an example of how influential and effective animation can be. I hope to continue working on similar, more considerable and ambitious projects.

Abduction

Brother Ezekiel is a brief snapshot in the life of a black man travelling across North America in the mid-1960s. Pulling into a generic motel, all he can think about is getting a warm meal and a bed for the night. The white locals have other plans however, from the passive aggressive motel receptionist and to the little girl in the restaurant who wants nothing more than to be Ezekiel’s friend. His goal of a peaceful night is shattered when he opens himself up to the young girl’s offer of friendship, ultimately resulting in tragedy.

Produced in aid of RTÉ Does Comic Relief, the short follows a Grandfather and granddaughter who are no longer able to see one another due to quarantine restrictions but still find a way to stay connected; a story familiar to families affected by the pandemic at home and around the world.
