Alone in her room, Casey and her computer screen spend hours glued to one another. Seeking to scratch an itch for otherworldly transformation, she enters an online horror role-playing game, joining a vast web of similarly curious strangers online. As her world continues to blend at the edges with the World’s Fair community, she makes unlikely connections and is forced to confront what the game really means to her.

In a stunningly innovative take on online life, Scheonbrun breathes color and air into this deliberate and discerning, ruminating and explosive, eerie and breathtakingly beautiful portrait of isolation. With a style and tenderness completely her own, she builds one of the most singular, authentic, and subtle portraits of life with gender dysphoria and proves the connective tissue the digital world constitutes for queer people seeking to be understood, comforted, cared for, and transformed.
