The same question arises, whether living in a big city or rural village - what is the ecological cost of human development? This program uses narrative storytelling to highlight people and communities across the world as they attempt to navigate their changing environments. 

Jasmin Tenucci (Director, August Sky) is a Brazilian filmmaker, who has written, directed or produced films in Brazil, Iceland, Pakistan, and the United States. Her most recent short film, AUGUST SKY (2021), is a Cannes Short Film 2021 Official Selection. Full bio here.

Ali Cabbar (Director, Bahçeler Put Kesildi (Gardens Petrified) was born and raised Manisa (Turkiye). Graduated from Dokuz Eylul University, Faculty of the fine Arts, Dramatic Writing in 2013. Full bio here.

Monica Schorn (Moderator) has served as the DCEFF Festival Coordinator since 2017, before then working for the American Film Institute’s documentary film festival for nine years under its Silverdocs and AFI DOCS iterations.
