A short, experimental documentary based on a journal kept by Takumi Okamoto while interned in the USA during WWII which also features original score by Jason Okamoto.

Director - Jason Okamoto

"1945 April 11th, Wednesday" was based on my grandfather's journal which he kept during WWII while interned in North Dakota. My intention was to incorporate both modern cinematic ideas along with textures found in Edo period Japanese art. In doing so, I wanted to give a dreamlike, yet historical quality to the piece. It is meant to be a larger story of diaspora told through an intimate narrative.
