Jackie wakes up to find a stranger in her apartment.
Director Statement
Anxiety is born out of having something to lose. When I began writing 'The Stranger' in the summer of 2020, it was the first time I realized that the world I occupy is not the same as the one I grew up in. We have lost our ability to communicate, trust, see the good in each other. With all the new technology available, we can barely believe our own eyes and ears. The constant change was overwhelming and it made me feel distant. The unfamiliarity transformed into fear and anxiety, and these feelings filtered directly into the film.
I wrote 'The Stranger' because I believe there is a feeling out in the world that is palpable. It is an anxiety that is very real in my life and I had the notion it was a very real in the lives of others. This film is a way for me to talk about the fear and anxiety. I hope there is an answer to this feeling by the end of the film. I believe that there is and it's the reason why this wonderful group of people came together to help me make 'The Stranger'.
