Six Kānaka ʻŌiwi (Native Hawaiians) share their voyages in and out of diaspora. Their collective moʻolelo (story) wades through hope, grief, wisdom, and the effects of the illegal occupation of their homeland. They share the pull they have felt to return to Hawaiʻi and ka ʻāʻumeʻume (the struggle) to stay.

M. Kaleipumehana Cabral (Pumehana) is a nonbinary queer Kanaka whose creative work centers around community and pilina, connection. They are a freelancer and consultant committed to art, education, indigenous rights, and traditional + holistic healing. They believe that creative, collaborative work is pivotal to long-term social change – in Hawaiʻi and beyond.
