A short experimental film that transforms the viral video of Elisa Lam, a young woman who vanished and died in a hotel, into a tribute to her life and a celebration of her spirit through dance.
Director's Statement:
The story of Elisa Lam has been told by people who are neither Asian nor women. Rather than making another horror film, true crime story, or conspiracy documentary, I wanted to do something different. This film is a celebration of her life – created by an Asian woman.
Director - Jessica Sison
For over 20 years, Jessica Sison has worked in the entertainment field as a producer, editor, director, camera operator, and post-production consultant.
Her film work has screened in film festivals all over the world, including Tribeca, Hawaii International, and EDINDOCS; and her broadcast work has been shown on Showtime, PBS, and The Filipino Channel.
In 2008, she made her documentary directorial debut with the award winning short "My Mother Said (Kuna Ni Nanang)," a film about her then 99-year-old grandmother confronting her own mortality.
Jessica is passionate about documentaries and films based on true stories; and she continues to collaborate with other producers and directors including Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Kim Komenich on "Revolution Revisited," a documentary about the Philippines’ 1986 People Power Revolution and its aftermath.
