On The Fence
As Yoni, an American volunteer in the Israeli army, struggles to command a small military outpost on the Israel-Egypt border, he is the only one who can save the life of a Sudanese migrant attempting to cross into Israel. Yoni’s decision is complicated by his own search for identity and belonging in a foreign land.
The Inspection
Julia, an experienced history teacher in a rather quiet high school, faces a school inspector. He wants to talk to her. But what about, exactly? Her heated debates with the principal? The freedom she takes with the school program? Or the way she teaches the Shoah?
Gefilte Fish
The autobiographical story sheds light on how survivors’ trauma carries over to next generations, aided by reluctance of the families to deal with uncomfortable dynamics. On its surface, Gefilte Fish is a story of one family meal in the Bronx. That brief moment in time connects past, present, and future, revealing trauma from the Holocaust, incest, and loss of parents -- and the silence that perpetuates the pain.
The Broken Candle
Hartwarming tale of Nira, a broken Hanukkah candle who becomes the shamash ("lead candle" of the hanukkiah) on the last night of the Festival of Lights.
BrownWhite
From the perspective of Israeli biracial kids, BrownWhite explores how skin color influences the development of identity. Weaving their lived experiences with findings from academic research, the film reveals these kids' dilemmas around identity in a world that's more complicated than brown or white.
Anne
Two actresses, a White actress and a Black actress, have made it to the final callbacks for the role of a lifetime: to play Anne Frank in an upcoming staged production. But as the topic of color-blind casting makes its way into the audition room, the controversial question emerges: who is best suited to portray Anne Frank?
The Artichoke Season
The Artichoke Season follows the fantastic childhood memories of 10-year-old Rosalie in a Jerusalem slum, after her father leaves home.
Naomi
Thirteen-year-old Naomi is one of a group of girls who break in to the local swimming pool one night as a prank. But their adventure will force Naomi to come to terms with how far she is prepared to go to hide her disability.
