This account of Merce Cunningham, the 20th century American avant-garde dancer and choreographer, is less a biography than a celebration of his repertoire shown through never-before-seen archival footage and live recreations of his landmark works. The focus is on 1944-1972 when Cunningham was making his reputation and collaborating with composer John Cage and visual artists including Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol.
