We will discuss her career and work producing and developing documentary film and television at A24 and beyond, the non-fiction industry landscape, and her current work, including the Apple TV+ series HOME and UNDERRATED.

 

  • About Sarba Das:


Sarba Das is a seasoned film and television executive who most recently served as Head of Creative for documentaries at A24 where she was Co-Executive Producer on the feature film VAL which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2021 and was licensed to Amazon Studios in an unprecedented sale. She is also Executive Producer on the series HOME (AppleTV+) and in production on UNDERRATED about the coming of age of NBA star Stephen Curry along with a slate of 14 other films in active production and more than a dozen series projects in development.


Das was formerly Vice President/Head of Documentaries at Pilgrim Media Group, a Lionsgate Company, where she optioned and developed Jessica B. Harris's HIGH ON THE HOG into a four part documentary series that aired on Netflix in May 2021. High on the Hog was a breakout success for Netflix and has been renewed for a second season where Sarba will continue to serve as Executive Producer . Her feature credits while at Pilgrim also include: Executive Producer on The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story (YouTubeOriginals), Executive Producer on The Greatest Bond (PBS), Co-Producer on both Soufra (Berlinale & Cannes Film Festival 2018/Hulu), and Tre Maison Dasan (Independent Lens).


Prior, as an unscripted programming development and production executive at Sony Pictures Television, Sarba was the studio’s point executive on two Emmy-award seasons of Shark Tank (ABC).Before joining Sony, Das spent three years at ABC Television as Manager, Alternative Series, Late Night and Specials. Before joining ABC, she worked as a producer on such broadcast series as the Emmy-award winning “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution” and “Secret Millionaire.”


A Film Independent Fellow, Das co-wrote, produced and directed independent feature film Karma Calling which was released by Netflix in 2012 and then to Amazon Video in 2016.

Das holds a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy and Film Studies from Yale University and a Masters in Fine Arts in Writing and Directing from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
