DOXA was proud to launch it’s 19th annual festival with Wintopia, directed by Mira Burt-Wintonick, which traces the footsteps of iconic Canadian documentary filmmaker Peter Wintonick through the lens of his daughter.
Ahead of his time, when dial-up internet speeds were the norm, Peter founded what he dubbed the Virtual Film Festival in the mid-1990s. It’s only fitting that Burt-Wintonick’s heartfelt ode to her father was the special focus of our very own venture into the online festival world.
As this edition of DOXA comes to an end, we’d like to invite the documentary community to join us in raising to glass for Peter Wintonick. Please bring your anecdotes and let’s come together to celebrate Peter and the documentary community that he so fiercely loved and advocated for.
