Solar Storytelling presents renewable energy as a personal and community vehicle for environmental and economic sustainability. Three short documentaries weave together stories about energy, opportunity, and justice. Indigenous youth participated in the project from both sides of the camera, learning about solar power and community power.&nbsp; Solar Storytelling was produced by Outside the Box, a Duluth nonprofit program engaging adolescents in design and construction through hands-on creative activities. Solar Storytelling

Solar Storytelling presents three short documentaries that weave together stories about energy, opportunity, and justice.

Written and directed by Klee Benally, this micro-budget feature was made with an all-Indigenous production crew powered by members of the Indigenous youth project <a href="http://indigenousaction.org/backpack/about.html" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Outta Your Backpack Media</a>. The film takes a “punk-rock cinema” approach to tackling social impacts of forced relocation. Power Lines is a coming of age story about a young Diné (Navajo) poet who runs away and finds home. Halee (Nezbahee Williams) is a 16 year old Diné relocation refugee who uses poetry to escape from her painful past and present. When Halee’s abusive father crosses a line, her best friend Selma (Kayla Dailey) helps her run away. Their journey to Halee’s homeland takes a turn when she discovers her father (Tony Skrelunas) has been hiding a secret that has the power to change Halee’s life forever.

Power Lines

Power Lines is a coming of age story about a young Diné (Navajo) poet who runs away and finds home. Halee (Nezbahee Williams) is a 16 year old Diné relocation refugee who uses poetry to escape from her painful past and present.
