It’s been a hard couple of years. These films negotiate the recent or remote past with empathy and even humor.

Underground hand-developed film, shot on 16mm, represents a deeply personal attitude of the film directors to their hometown of St. Petersburg. The city appears as a place of the Unconscious, where obscure pictures of the houses interpenetrate with images of abstract art, in parallel with newsreel footage of the destruction of the city during WWII. The film is made as a trip, where a real walk through the city transforms into mindflow, depicting the play of memory, phantasms and traumatic history.
