Somewhere in Eastern Europe due to an accident in a laboratory, the hero gains superpowers that he does not want. He does not want to save the world from villains, he wants to live as before without changing anything. The situation is complicated by the fact that his powers cause problems in his everyday life. Kirill Khachaturov (b. 1984) is a Russian director, animator and designer. He studied directing at the Moscow School of New Cinema and is a laureate of many international design festivals such as D&amp;AD, EDA and others. His debut short film Protocorba premiered at the Annecy festival in 2019 and was shown at many international film festivals.

Naked

One night, Reine, a young loner, sees within the urban chaos a mystical oneness that seems alive, like some sort of guide. Adrien Merigeau studied animation in the French animation school EMCA, and worked as background supervisor on Cartoon Saloon's Oscar-nominated feature film The Secret of Kells (2009). Then he directed his first short film Old Fangs (2010), and worked as art director on Cartoon Saloon’s second Oscar-nominated film Song of the Sea (2014).

Genius Loci

In these dark times, you may think that every hazard has been identified, but nobody has taken in consideration how dangerous dance can be… Andrea Vinciguerra is an Italian film director working in London with advertising and music videos. Musician and visual maker since a young age, his work is characterised by playful energy and bold, colourful aesthetics peppered with humorous twists that come from recognisable motifs in fresh situations. He has been awarded at numerous prestigious festivals around the world.

No, I don't want to Dance!

A betrayed wife starts to investigate her husband’s mistresses. Her jealousy is gradually replaced by curiosity. Nadja Andrasev is a Hungarian animation filmmaker. Her graduation film from MOME Anim, The Noise of Licking, premiered at the Cinéfondation Selection at Cannes, winning the Joint Third Prize.

Symbiosis

Flesh is about how women are seen as bodies at disposal, judged as time passes as the cooking stages of meat. Through the form and texture of real materials such as paint, watercolour, clay, 35mm film and virtual image decomposition as glitches and datamosh, five women are represented in animation by women animators, to highlight the perverse way in which society looks at them. Camila Kater (b. 1990, Brazil) is a director, animator and production designer. She holds a B.A. in medialogy from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, UK, and has worked on both short and feature films in various capacities.

Flesh

Woman-Doe works as a professional exhibit at the museum, hanging from a wall as a dead animal alongside the rest of the trophies. Her life is pure routine; she spends her free time walking about and cleaning her apartment. One morning, after a terrifying nightmare, she notices that small horns have started growing out on top of her head... Aleta Rajic (b. 1990 in Čapljina) studied English and art history in Mostar, where she currently is a member of the animated film school and has worked on several film projects with Studio Neum. Natural Selection is the second animated film she directed. She has been involved in the organisation of Neum animated film festival for several years.

Somewhere in Eastern Europe: Young runs away from her depressing hometown. That’s how she meets Skinny – a kind of unstable weirdo who lives in a camper and runs his not-so-legal errands. Their journey gradually leads them towards more and more eerie settings. Tomek Popakul (b. 1986) graduated in animation from the Łódź Film School. Parallelly he studied scriptwriting for a year. He made several short films that screened at dozens of festivals around the world.

Acid Rain

In the small Bavarian town of Altötting, a mother takes her young son to visit a nearby chapel. The boy becomes entranced by the Shrine of the Virgin Mary inside the chapel, and begins daily pilgrimages to see his beloved Madonna. His love, devotion, and passion for her continues to grow, until one day his world is crushed by the devastating secret behind her eternal beauty. Andreas Hykade was born in the summer of love in Altötting, the centre of the Holy Mary cult. Since he's been a grown-up, he's created animated films for grown-ups. Now that he's a father, he creates animated films for children as well. He has been the director of the Institute of Animation at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg since 2015.

No one can escape their roots, however rotten they may be. Alberto Vásquez (b. 1980) is a Spanish animation director, illustrator and cartoonist. His books and comics have been published in many countries, and he has won more than 100 awards at various prestigious international events.

Homeless Home

Roos lives, together with her snails, in a park. Like a small, very well organized system – a small microcosm. The only threat comes from some birds that like to eat snails. That is, until the arrival of two newcomers. While they fall in love, Roos feels attacked. She withdraws into herself and becomes aggressive to defend her way of life, to the point of hurting others. A film about dehumanization. Jasmine Elsen (b. 1991 in Belgium) graduated from RITCS, Brussels in 2016, and has worked as an animator in various studios. Her short films Half babka (2014) and Kastaars (2016) have won awards at several international festivals.

Carrousel

In a hospital room, the daughter recalls a childhood moment when as a little girl she tried to share her experience with an injured bird with her father. A moment of misunderstanding and a lost embrace have stretched many years all the way to this hospital room, until the moment when a window pane breaks under the impact of a little bird. Daria Kashcheeva studies animated film at FAMU in Prague. Her student films has featured at many international festivals. Daughter received the main award (Cristal for a graduation film) as well as the children’s jury award (best student film) in Annecy.
