Kim Holm is a Norwegian creative artist and motion designer working with both static and moving forms of design and artistic expression. His main field of interest lies within art and design in moving forms, such as main titles, idents, show openers and music videos. He works as a senior motion designer for the creative production company TRY Apt.

📜 Special Mention Nordic-Baltic Commissioned Film 📜 Jury Statement: A film that felt very personal and the distinct choice of styles are melted together with ease, it shows filmmakers extremely confident with the medium. A man with self-disturbances awakens one morning wondering what the day will bring. Julian Nazario Vargas (b. 1983) graduated from Volda University College in 2007 with a B.A. in animation. Since then he has gained a lot of experience from working with animation, graphics and VFX for TV series, drama series, films and documentaries. Today he works as the creative director at Animaskin, the company he established in 2013.

A really great film that shows that you can trust Santa. The music is very good and its nicely animated. A hungry fox hunts for food on a cold winter night. He sneaks into a small farm to steal a snack when he is caught by the Tomten who guards the farm. Yaprak Morali and Are Austnes have been working in the animation industry for more than 20 years. They are now both working at Qvisten Animation.

🏆 Winner of the Audience Award! 🏆 God is a single parent and amateur programmer. He’s working on project "Earth" but never seems to get a break from the kids. One day, though, he finally reaches a breakthrough. Magnus Møller co-founded Tumblehead with Peter Smith in 2011. In addition to directing projects he is also often acting as the art director and is always pushing the house style – a mix of UPA and 50’s cartoons blended with new 3D design concepts.

🏆 Winner of the Student Film Competition! 🏆 Jury Statement: This beautiful and skilfully structured story explores the impossibilities and contradictions between the desires of its characters and their opportunities. The vividly crafted stop-motion film illuminates a paradox because of each pair’s incompatible nature. The jury acknowledges the precision and clarity of the film’s message combined with the rich symbolic value that its elements carry. Three couples drifting away. Margrethe Danielsen has a B.A. in Animation from Volda University College, where she is currently pursuing her master's degree.

📜 Special Mention Nordic-Baltic Student Film 📜 Jury Statement: Room with a Sea View&nbsp;is a nightmare in black, white and green. And sometimes red. The film uses surreal imagery to tell a story that is immediately relatable and connects to the pitfalls of a mundane life where one avoids taking chances. The jury viewed this film as a sober questioning of man’s inner feelings of inadequacy that is well combined with absurdist humour. Herbert arrives in the seaside city on a long work trip. Accidentally he falls in love with a very strange, beautiful saleswoman in a flower shop. He suffers from insomnia, which he treats by watching billiards on TV. But now it doesn’t help anymore. His obsessive passion keeps him awake… Leonid Shmelkov worked on various animation and film projects in Russia and Europe as a director, artist and animator. Simultaneously he produced several short animated films that were selected to many international festivals and awarded with various prizes, including the Berlin International Film Festival in 2014 and NIKA (Russian Film Academy Award) in 2015.

🏆 Winner of the Short Film Competition! 🏆 Jury Statement: Yes-People&nbsp;is a tightly knit story of diverse human characters that are bound together by the restrictions of time and space. The efficient usage of pace and visual information makes it a rediscovery with every rewatch. The film is unusually light hearted for the Nordic-Baltic animation scene, capturing the jury’s benevolence with much of the same humour and unpretentiousness that the characters share between themselves. One morning an eclectic mix of people face the everyday battle – such as work, school and dish-washing. As the day progresses, their relationships and capacity to cope are tested. Gísli Darri Halldórsson was born in Iceland in 1978 and graduated with a B.A. (Hons) from the Irish School of Animation, Dublin in 2007. Gísli has been a professional animator since 2007, working in England, Ireland, Germany and Iceland on feature films, short films, TV-series, commercials and music videos.

🏆 Winner of the Grand Prix! 🏆 Jury Statement: Freeze Frame&nbsp;takes the viewer on a journey through the deepest layers of arctic ice showing gradually more complex beings getting excavated from dark waters. The animals trapped in ice cubes while in motion, show the history of all living things. The animation technique and the storyline perfectly match the contrast between persistence and fragility. The jury viewed this film as a dystopian metaphor of human greed and thoughtlessness. Freeze frame: the most absurd technique since the invention of the moving image. Through an elaborate process of duplicating the same image over and over again, it creates the illusion of stillness. In this stop motion film, identical figures perform the hopeless task of preserving blocks of ice. The repetitive movements reanimate the animals captured inside. Soetkin Verstegen is an independent film maker and animator from Brussels. Next to her personal work, she works as a freelancer for stop-motion films and series, and teaches animation workshops.
