During the Gulf War a black artist observes a demented capitalist and a derelict priest entice a naïve young man into exploiting an innocent in this dark comedy of post-Reagan's America.

"A surreal tragicomedy of the right’s “trickle-down” America — and the seeds of where we are now."

Faith of Our Fathers, a film by HS, was shot in 1991 and awarded a completion grant by the AFI/NEA. Premiering at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival, the film also played the Cinequest Film Festival (where it was nominated for a Maverick Spirit Award), the Santa Monica Film Festival, the Cairo International Film Festival, and the NYC Anthology Film Archives.

(For those of you who weren’t around in the late 1980s — President Ronald Reagan and the right created the “wealth pump”, a deregulated capitalism exclusively for the wealthy, that now sees our democracy dismantled by billionaires.)

"Rigorous, Profound, and Highly Absurdist" – Los Angeles Independent Film Festival

"An independent work in the best sense of the word." – Cinema Parallel

"Capturing the idea that lyricism is formed from both the lovely and the bleak." – LA Independent Film Festival, Hazel-Dawn Dumpert

"A wonderful film." – Cinequest Film Festival

"The mise en scene is precise." – Manohola Dargis – LA Weekly
