The Colorado Plate: Inside Our Local Food Culture is a film program that consists of four short documentaries, each focusing on a Colorado food artisan who exemplifies their craft. The Denver Post commissioned the series to open a window onto the growing landscape and identities of Colorado food culture.
Colorado has long fought to prove itself among flashier and bigger cities to the nation while defining itself to a hungry scene of locals with eyes wide open for what we have to offer for meaningful food. As a young and still blossoming state, what we miss in centuries’ old pockets of tradition, we shine with entrepreneurial cities and vast horizons cultivated by the collaborative spirit we proudly claim as Coloradan. In 2019, The Denver Post journeyed behind the scenes with a local farmer, a chef, a cheese-maker, and a butcher to open a window onto the growing landscape and identities of Colorado food culture.
After the films, join us for a discussion and Q&A with moderator and food journalist Linnea Covington, director Amy Brothers and three of the films’ subjects: farmer and chef Eric Skokan of Black Cat, cheese-maker Jackie Chang of Haystack Mountain, and butcher Kate Kavanaugh of Western Daughters Butcher Shoppe.

It lifts the veil behind the humble spirit of Jackie Chang who creates the locally lauded and award-winning goat and cow cheeses. Jackie will speak on a panel after The Colorado Plate series films.
