Grandiose spectacles, such as those devised by François Vatel in the Vatel drama that we are showing, featured operas by Jean-Baptiste Lully and others. Lully's music reflected the Sun King, Louis XIV, and his court as gods and heroes. In this performance, Opera on Tap Colorado brings the music that thrilled audiences at Versailles and Chantilly during the king's reign to the present moment. The song selections and libretto is available in the event program.
Opera on Tap Colorado brings opera to unexpected venues throughout the state, offering audiences exceptional music by outstanding singers, and giving professional singers the opportunity to sing regularly in public in a welcoming, supportive atmosphere. Casual and even raucous, Opera on Tap presents themed opera shows performed by top notch performers singing music from actual operas - often with a drink in hand!
Singers: Ekaterina Kotcherguina, Soprano; Adam Ewin, Baritone; Margaret Siegrist, Mezzo Soprano; Eve Orenstein, Mezzo Soprano
Harpsichord player: Alaina de Bellevue
For ticket holders who tune in for the recorded performance and following Festival premiere of Vatel, Brasserie Boulder (from Cafe Aion) is offering a 15% discount (code: FFFF15) on dinners and wine for our January 28th opening night presentations of Opera from the Court of the Sun King at 6:30pm and Vatel at 7:30pm.
