It’s long been a challenge to find room in a festival for the 20+ minuters, but this year, we’ve embraced the longer short (or the mid-length film) and dedicated a whole category to the form. (And we’re very glad we did…) Here you’ll find eight of the best, all of which don’t break the half hour mark. If you don’t have time to watch a feature, and aren’t interested in getting half way through a shorts selection, this is for you - brilliant filmmaking for busy lifestyles.
All of the films in this section are eligible for the brand new Mid-Length Film Award, given out by our jury. The winner will we revealed at the Flatpack Awards on 30 May (free event, booking essential).
A surreal drama, darkly comedic and offbeat enough to be perfectly suited for our frayed pandemic brains. Born from an ill conceived performance piece, Mr. Carpet is an exercise in experiencing the foundation of the human condition.
