A feature film inspired by the true story of a mother in the Amazon in the 1990s. It has been six months since Abel left for the gold mines in southern Pará, but after 6 months with no news from her son, Pureza departs from her native town with only the clothes on her body and measly savings in her purse. She retraces her son's path and finds a system that allures and then traps rural workers into conditions akin to slavery. Hoping to find Abel, Pureza gets hired at one of the farms, where she witnesses the brutal treatment of workers and the deforestation of the lush Amazon.

A true story that had me shedding a tear alone in front of my computer. Dira Paez as Pureza, personifies all the strength of every mother heroine you have ever seen. This is a magnificent story that perhaps lacks the sexiness of other films in the fest, but is one of the most thrilling and important...GvH
