OMAR, 18, showers in his home in Aleppo, Syria. The year is 2014, the middle of wartime. He raps about his homeland and the conflict there. His younger brother, SAMIR, 16, bangs on the door, wanting to use the bathroom. Tremors from a nearby explosion occur and Omar runs out of the bathroom, joining his family in the dining room. His mother, AMIRA, and father, NABIL, start arguing about leaving their home. Amira says her sister's family left and so should they, but Nabil refuses. Omar later tries to bring up leaving again to Nabil, but Nabil dismisses the idea. The family's differing opinions escalate into further conflict, resulting in lasting repercussions.
