The Opposites Game

Meet Kim, a friendly, outgoing, man-eating siren in the ocean who tries to stay current on the latest tunes as she preys on fishermen. A stop-motion, claymation mockumentary with charm.

In a whiteout blizzard in 1920 Arctic Greenland, a man is sent on a dangerous rescue mission to find a missing French scientist. What sacrifices will he have to make to survive in the harshest conditions on Earth? Based on a true story.

Icebound

Lizza, a green lizard woman, struggles to get ready for her first online date with Chad, a human. A colorful and funny film that takes on cultural assimilation and both male and female beauty standards through the lens of Tinder culture.

Lizard Queen

In this sweet and surreal musical excerpt from her forthcoming My Love Affair with Marriage, FFF favorite Signe Baumane (“Teat Beat of Sex,” 2008 Grand Jury Award for Best Animated Short) portrays a young girl getting her first period and her mom explaining the rules of womanhood.

Mother's Song

In this animated documentary, the filmmaker explores how her mother’s abusive relationship with her father shaped her own experiences and sexual identity while growing up and going to boarding school in China.

Umbilical

Aliens send the Earth a recipe for a new miracle substance that can replace every modern material we currently use. Many years after civilization has been completely rebuilt, the aliens arrive, and their intentions are not so selfless. The latest work from innovative filmmaker Grier Dill (“Vitamins for Life,” FFF 2017).

The Message from Space

Five years in the making, this stop-motion, sci-fi, claymation masterwork focuses on a lone astronaut’s fight for survival. To repair his damaged ship, he must somehow get through a malfunctioning VR chamber run amok and teeming with ghosts of a life left behind on Earth.

Destination: Unknown

Various things happen for no reason and with no relation to any other things … maybe. UCF student Frank Volk presents a most unusual family tree, with commentary by some of the participants.

Things Happen Because

Walt is a small, blue, egg-shaped creature struggling with ordinary life in New York City. Hungry and searching for food in his apartment, he finds only a can of beans and no can opener. But what’s that on the windowsill?

Walt

Hand-drawn over a seven-month period using only ink and white-out, FFF alumnus Jake Fried (“Raw Data,” FFF 2014) reworked the same drawing 1440 times, scanning each iteration.

Brain Wave

Playtime is never over in this twisted take on the nuclear family. A suburban family of dolls, including pill-popping parents not averse to a little child abuse, are slowly converting the Chihuahua into one of their own.

Doll Story

An experimental animation made with projection mapping and 2D animation techniques, this hybrid film is the story of a scared and lonely boy who, inspired by Okami (wolf), leaves his room to explore the world outside and conquer his fears.

Okami

A young girl travelling abroad reminisces about her family making dumplings and the coin her mother used to hide in one of them. The latest stop-motion felt stunner from Oscar®-nominated animator Siqi Song (“Sister,” FFF 2019).

The Coin

A Canadian goose from the Hudson, NY, area remembers his last migration. The latest surprising work from South Florida’s own Bernardo Britto (“Glove,” FFF 2016; “Yearbook,” FFF 2014 Grand Jury Award for Best Animated Short).

Hudson Geese

Grieving parents drift apart and struggle with the loss of their daughter after a school shooting. A moving and beautiful elegy on grief from directors Will McCormack (co-writer of Toy Story 4 and Celeste &amp; Jesse Forever) and Michael Govier.
