Hilma af Klint was sort of like the Emily Dickinson of abstract painting, except she was the first artist to ever do it. Her first abstract paintings erupted into the world fully formed, predating Kandinsky’s more hesitant experiments by several years.

“Thrillingly enlightening doc.” - Mark Kermode

“Halina Dyrschka’s debut feature…is one of the best films I’ve seen about fine art. It casts an entrancing spell that allows the staggering depth of its subject’s work to consume us, while showing how her trailblazing vision left an unmistakable imprint in over a century of iconic art spanning various mediums, resounding through history like a drop of colored paint in a pitcher of water.” - Matt Fagerhol, RogerEbert.com

“(T)he underlying outrage at history’s reluctance to accept the truth gives the film an energy matched by the excitement of discovery, which is never lost on the filmmaker. As impatient as the film is with the unhurried acknowledgment of genius, it’s equally thrilled to be able to share this genius with an eager if unknowing audience.” - Hope Madden, UK Film Review
