This workshop explores how to approach producing your own projects as a Director.
You know how to direct a scene. You can work with your Director of Photography to select the right shot. You can collaborate with your actors on their performance. You can work with your Editor on crafting the final film. How to get all those people in the right places at the right times and make sure the job actually gets done with everyone having what they need is where production comes in.
Understanding Producing as a Director can open up many doors for you creatively and professionally. We'll dive into the basics of what you need to know and how it all connects back to your work as the Director.

Students will receive a digital handout during the workshop with links to explore what is covered in the workshop in more depth.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Sean Mannion is a filmmaker and media educator with a focus on creating access to the tools and techniques of film storytelling. For more than a decade Sean has worked with nonprofit organizations and schools to develop curriculum and deliver workshops on film and video production skills for a variety of audiences including youth, the elderly, community media producers, business owners, corporate staff, active duty military, individuals with post traumatic stress, individuals with traumatic brain injuries, and underserved New York City communities. In addition to his work as an educator he has had his hands in almost every aspect of film and video production including videography, sound, editing, visual effects, animation, and emerging virtual production techniques. He is currently developing several new projects with his producing partner at 4MileCircus.
