Seasonally, street sleepers in Kwun Tong Public Pier need to move out like the tide falls during the pier clearance by authorities, and move back to the pier like the tide rises afterwards. A mobile unit prototype is built with street sleepers themselves to deal with the seasonal clearance. It attempts to save construction materials without destroying the settlements in each clearance, which save energy for street sleepers rebuilding shelter and authorize to dump the construction waste respectively. By enhancing the efficiency of moving in and out, the project hope to stretch the tension between authorities, public and street sleepers on the usage of Kwun Tong Public Pier. The team will continue to document the intervention and situation of the pier in the upcoming clearance. The Kelly Street Garden film explores the core mission of the garden to provide healthy food and community programming to our local South Bronx residents free of charge. The community's effort not only feeds people physically, but mentally and spiritually as well. Through Art workshops, Qi Gong, Yoga, cooking demos and herbal medicine they have created a space where the stressors of the community and daily life can be left at the door. Through a robust and free market, the garden's stewards directly provide a path to better nutrition. This film casts a light on the healing components of food, justice, equality, culture, coupled with the opportunity to improve mind and body in an oasis of healing in a community that has faced many challenges over the past several decades. This documentary delves into the heart of the Vermont Everyone Eats program, showcasing its profound impact on combating food insecurity and revitalizing local food systems. We hear about the program's impact through interviews with general store owners, executive directors of community action groups, food science academics, local organizers, volunteers and the people who received the meals. I wanted to showcase the interconnectedness of the individuals and organizations involved, highlighting the collaborative spirit that drove this silo-busting initiative forward. We explore the multifaceted aspects of Vermont Everyone Eats through verite footage gathered over multiple seasons. The program was built upon the notion of local control, and it operated differently in each part of the state. We follow the passionate restaurateurs and chefs who stepped up to create delicious meals using locally sourced ingredients. We hear the stories of individuals and families whose lives have been touched by this program, witnessing firsthand how access to healthy, prepared meals can restore hope and dignity during challenging times. I also felt it critically important to highlight the positive ripple effects of Vermont Everyone Eats on local economies. By supporting local farmers and businesses, this program was a catalyst for sustainable growth, strengthening the fabric of communities and fostering resilience in Vermont's local food systems. Rising from the Ashes

The Engine Inside—a new feature-length documentary narrated by Phill Liggett—tells the stories of six everyday people from all over the globe who reveal the unique power of the bicycle to change lives and build a better world. Through their stories, the film uncovers the often-overlooked potential of this 200-year-old machine, exploring its impact on a wide range of global issues such as physical and mental health, socioeconomic inequality and climate change. By shining a light on people who have embraced cycling as a way to overcome daunting personal and systemic challenges, The Engine Inside ultimately asks viewers to reconsider their own perspective. Is there a transformative power within us all that can be unlocked through the simple act of riding a bike? Unique cinematography techniques were used throughout the principal photography to get RED camera gimbals on bike level and moving through the streets from a cyclist's perspective. This allowed 8k hi-dynamic range footage to be shot in fast-moving documentary-style situations using natural light. All new sound design techniques were implemented to generate post-production sound design palates straight from the production source by having the sound supervisor sent to all shoot locations. This allowed the final mixed sound design to be created from the true authentic audio of all synced and non-synced foley, SFX and backgrounds. As an example, the Indigenous drum band circle is the live outside performance recorded in real-time in surround sound capture of individual performers, main drum and ambience reverbs. The Engine Inside

Jimmy James came to the Esperanza Community after googling “Texas homeless camps.” He had been living on the streets of Houston for about three years, and he arrived in Austin to find an encampment of roughly 150 people living in tents and temporary shelters on a sprawling, flat slab of asphalt off U.S. 183 The site had once been a Texas Department of Transportation storage lot. The state’s governor, Greg Abbott, designated the site for camping in late 2019 in an effort to divert unhoused people from downtown Austin. The Other Ones Foundation (TOOF) came to the camp in the summer of 2020 to work in partnership with the residents and other organizations to create a safe community where people could access crucial support services. As a result of this collaboration, the encampment evolved into the Esperanza Community, named through popular vote by the people living there, and guided by a similarly elected leadership committee of residents. “I think this is going to prove to be a model of a safe and dignified place where people can get out of the streets and work through the system to find housing,” said Max Moscoe, TOOF’s communications manager. That has already proven to be the case for many Esperanza residents, including Jimmy. After living at Esperanza Community for about nine months, he was able to move into permanent housing at Community First! Village. The film shows how people like him, and his friend, Alton “Coach" McSween can have a positive impact on those who stand up for others in the crisis currently affecting the wealthy City by the Bay.
