‘Disco Deewane’ follows the reunion of Shriprakash and Disco - one a celebrated activist filmmaker whose award-winning work has chronicled the struggles of marginalized communities, and the other a vibrant young music producer from a disadvantaged community who is pursuing his creative ambitions. The film brings them together years after they parted ways, but not as mentor and protégé, but as collaborators - tasked with composing a song together. Set against the evocative backdrop of Jharkhand, what follows is an exploration which brings their different worlds together, unsettling old hierarchies and sparking a role reversal that challenges entrenched ideas of ‘high’ versus ‘popular’ art.
