For centuries, the Navajo have raised sheep as a way of life. In the 1900s, the U.S. Government’s coal discovery on their lands led to violence and decimated flocks. Nikyle Begay, a non-binary Navajo shepherd and weaver, preserves this tradition, finding spiritual and emotional nourishment through herding and weaving wool.
