Director's Statement
It is my absolute pleasure to present These Three Birds for your festival consideration. This is my first time directing a short film. It was written, produced, and filmed by myself on an iPhone 11 Pro in the middle of a pandemic on an extremely low budget (dedicated almost entirely to post-production) with limited resources at my disposal, but with a passion for storytelling and a desire to create something meaningful.
For me, this film is a direct commentary and metaphor on the repercussions of the stigmas associated with Mental Health and Mental Illness and is therefore extremely important for me to share in hopes of calling upon its viewers to ask themselves: How many times have I ignored the Elephant in the Room?
I would like to thank Erika Prevost for her dedication to embodying "Bird" in my story and to Adrian Walters and Brandon McKnight for their physical embodiment of Bird's Elephant Ghosts. I would also like to thank Jessica Gagliano for her assistance during our shoot and Seth Schurman for his editing work.
